The Rotary Vitarobics Project「扶輪活力健康迎奧運」is a territory-wide community service project organized by Rotary International District 3450 to promote health & whole-person fitness in Hong Kong and to welcome the Beijing Olympic.  
     
  • Launched in November 2007, the highlight of this project is to invite all students and citizens to join hands to welcome the 2008 Beijing Olympics by dancing a specially choreographed 4-minute Rotary Vitarobics Dance 「扶輪活力健康舞」together anytime in their respective schools or venues on the 100th day countdown to the Beijing Olympic on April 30, 2008.   
     
  • Rotary Vitarobics is strongly supported by many organizations. The major Supporting Organizations are Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, Education Bureau of the HKSAR and The Physical Fitness Association of Hong Kong. Charles Szeto, a TVB artist & HK Record holder for butterfly stroke swimming is the project’s Health Ambassador.   • All schools and organizations are welcome to enroll as a body.  All participating schools and organizations can download the tutorial DVD for training.   Basically, the logistics are simple – appoint Rotary Vitarobics Ambassadors, join any of the Rotary Vitarobics Workshop (Train-the-trainers’ programs), train all participants with the help of the demo DVD, dance Rotary Vitarobics Dance anytime and anywhere  on April 30, 2008. Full list of participating schools and organizations will be published in a  momento publication, a copy of which will be sent to BOCOG (Beijing Organizing Committee for the XXIX Olympic Games) as a special souvenir from Hong Kong.  
     
  • Enrolment procedures are simle - To start with, please download the enrolment form and return to us by fax.   On April 30, 2008, please pick a time and place and arrange a group dance together.  Please video tape your group dance, keep a full list of the participants as a record for our inspection.  
     
  • You are required to complete a “Rotary Vitarobics 30/4 Participants Form” with the exact no. of participants taken part in the group dance and return to us.  
     
  • A special Certificate of Recognition will be presented to each school or organization whereas each participant will receive a ‘Certificate of Participation’.  
     
  • Participants of all ages are welcome.  Participants who are under the age of 18 will require parent’s consent as with other activities.  
     
• A series of Students Workshop for secondary / primary / kindergarten students will be organized in February and March to train Student Ambassadors.  Please download enrolment forms for Workshops for details.
 
• A 4-minute Rotary Vitarobics Dance demo DVD is available for download for participating schools and organizations to practice for the important day – April 30.   You can also ask for a copy by calling the hotline 2576-8882.
 
• "Rotary Vitarobics" also receives good support from the media.  The physical exercise routine has been featured & taught in the children's program on TVB Jade ( 放學ICU ) at 4:30 pm for 10 weeks from November 26, 07.

  Rotary Vitarobics Dance is a kind of Rhythm Dance and composed of 9 specific forms of movements which are transited with some simple dancing steps and moves. Its major characteristic is to integrate standard forms of dancing moves, involving all parts of the body and joints, with sharp and energetic musical rhythm progressively.  
     
 

Rotary Vitarobics Dance is also a kind of low-intensity aerobic exercises which is believed to be beneficial to people of different age, phenotypes and fitness levels. Regular practices of aerobic exercises not only improve cardio-pulmonary functions and cardiovascular health, but also assist in burning excessive body fat and maintain an ideal body weight. Rotary Vitarobics Dance’s wordings and moves were designed and verified by the Physical Fitness Association of Hong Kong, China, and the attractive background music and impressive song was created by famous composer Mahmood Lam Mo Tek (a Rotarian) and young composer Clinton Yau.  The singers of the MTV version are Mahmood and new pop singing team VEGA.  Audiences should be able to enjoy the fun and benefits from both movements and music when they are training with Rotary Vitarobics Dance.

 
     
  Simple Version  
  It is about 4 minutes in length and suitable for exercise beginners and the general public as a medium to learn the basic moves of Rotary Vitarobics Dance.  
     
  Regular Practice Version  
 

It is about 10 minutes in length and suitable for those who have been familiar with the basic moves of Rotary Vitarobics Dance. According to “Consensus on Physical Activity and Health” by Cross-Strait Exercise Experts, children should accumulate at least 60 minutes of moderate- to high-intensity physical activities while adults should accumulate at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activities to maintain health and ideal body weight.

 
     
 
Points to note:
1. People with chronic illnesses should consult medical advices.
2. Sports suits should be worn when doing exercises.
3. Pay attention to warm-up and cool-down exercises.
4. Appropriate hydration should be adopted.
5. Cease exercise when feeling discomfort, and then consult medical professionals if necessary.
